I worked in a retail store in the early 2000s. We had this crappy Muzak station playing boring stuff all day. But a few times a week they’d play a gem. That’s how I discovered this song. Also, “Life Less Ordinary” from Carbon Leaf.

I first heard this and Good Thing (Angels Running) on a CD my mom had. The CD also included a song without lyrics, just piano. Does anyone happen to know which CD that was?

I'm not sure that I can define how this song makes me feel, but it's pretty close to this: "Fernweh, or farsickness, is also a suffering, but is less clear cut and rectifiable. This, at first glance, seems like "just" a love song. But i also think it goes deeper. It's speaking about Jesus vs Satan. Think about it next time you listen - We "fell in love with a bad bad man" (think of any sin that we become 'obsessed' with, without realizing..money, selfishness, fame, power, lust, greed.. Its the way this world works, we are meant to be tempted) "ever since i met him I've been sad sad sad" - it's never enough, we are still seeking more and overall we are still spiritually empty. "i watch you in your sleep, even when youre not there" is God telling us that He still loves us, He is still watching over you, even when you've forgotten about Him. "maybe one day we'll meet" hits the hardest, because i can honestly say i don't know who is saying it.. Is God saying it? Is the singer saying it? I think it's both. They're both saying "(i hope) one day we will meet"

I grew up in NW PA. Every summer my family would take a trip to Lake Mississagagon in Ontario. While on this trip in the summer of 1994 I bought this CD and brought it home. I shared it with my best friend Dave who had never heard of blue Rodeo. He became an instant fan. This was our favorite record to listen to and we did so often. Dave died of cancer in November of 2022 and I lost my best friend of almost 47 years. Whenever I listen to this record now it makes me very melancholy.....

I just love this perfect little song. It has an REM lilt and feel to it, with the prominent bass line, the splashes of piano, and the beautiful harmony.

Me and my dad would listen to this song in the car belting out lyrics at the top of our lungs. He died in 2018 and I cannot listen to this as much as I used to.. and when I do I’m crying my eyes out.
